Student Partnership Program
Background, Goals and Objectives
The ARSTA Student Partnership Program (ASPP) stems from the challenges our youth face across the continent.
- Across the continent, there is a burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit, a spirit of leadership and a thirst for knowledge. This transformation however needs to be harnessed and properly managed we believe that the moment is ripe. There is a need to relay the knowledge and stem the brain-drain that many developing nations have been straddled with. ARSTA will enforce this through the involvement of all Africans in the D iaspora who have been part of thriving advancements in technology,
- Nearly half of the population of Africa - forty-five percent under the age of 15, are unarguably the backbone of Africa’s future. There is an urgent need to educate and prepare the youth to embrace science and technology - a key driver of economic growth- , and to embrace this new economic future that they must now bear.
- The Student partners will serve as role models, going into communities and sharing life experiences, problem-solving skills as well as educating the youth on what it takes to live life to the fullest. Truly boosting confidence and igniting their passion to go out there and do things that they once viewed as impossible.
ASPP Goal includes the following :
- Science education and workshops
- Entrepreneurial training
- Formation of Community Group Project cells
- Science, engineering and mathematics contests
- Information technology and web education
ASPP Objectives are to:
- Stimulate the interests of youth in science and technology in Africa
- Inspire African youth to be proactive, innovative and self-reliant.
- Igniting confidence and passion in young minds
- Organizing educational competitions that will sharpen the creative minds of our youth, and in the process test all what is being learned.
- Providing hands-on learning experience
- Providing a vast array of information through internet and web education
